Food poisoning in Jalpaiguri, 80 taken ill

Jalpaiguri: At least 80 people were taken ill after having prasad at a house in Moynaguri in Jalpaiguri district, officials said.

The victims took the prasad at the house of Sunil Das following a Shani puja last night.

Shortly afterwards, they started arriving at the Moynaguri hospital with symptoms like vomiting and loose motion, sources said.

Though many of them were released after treatment since last night, at least 18 people were still admitted.

One patient whose condition was serious was referred to Jalpaiguri district hospital.
