For 6 months, sisters didn't leave Noida house

Noida: They were so frail that they weighed less than young children and had to be carried out of their home in Noida.

Anuradha and Sonali Bhal, both in their 40s, were rescued today from their home in a Delhi suburb. They had not stepped out of their house in six months.

Worried neighbours in Noida's Sector 29 finally alerted a local NGO and the Noida police which broke into the house and picked up the sisters.

They've been moved to Kailash hospital in Noida's sector 27. Anuradha, the elder one, is in a critical condition. "The elder sister is in a coma-like state, the younger one is in a comparitively better state. They have internal bleeding," said Dr Sarika Chandra, who is supervising their care.

The police says that the sisters seem to be emotionally disturbed. They lost their parents in a car accident in the 90s.

Their only brother moved out earlier this year and seems to have severed ties with them.
