Panipat:
Four youth from Uttar Pradesh, who were returning home after picking up one of their friends from Delhi airport, were burnt alive early Saturday after their car collided with a truck near this Haryana city and caught fire, police said.
Three of the victims had gone Friday to Delhi airport to pick up their friend Bunty, who was coming from Mumbai. After picking him up, they were headed towards Shamli town in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh, when their car collided with the truck on the Panipat-Karnal stretch of the National Highway No.1 (NH-1), 15 km from here.
"The car hit the diesel tank of the truck and immediately caught fire. The victims were burnt alive inside," a police official said.
He said that some people tried to save the youths but the central locking system of the car got jammed, trapping the four.
While three youth were killed on-the-spot, bystanders were able to take out one youth after breaking the window panes. However, he too succumbed while being taken to hospital.
