Four children swept away by Bhagirathi river in West Bengal

Burdwan: Four children, including three girls, were swept away by the Bhagirathi river on Sunday in Purbasthali area of Burdwan district in West Bengal.

The children had gone to take a bath in the Bhagirathi river at Patula ghat in Purbasthali at around 12:30 pm, Superintendent of Police S M H Mirza said, adding that search operations have been launched to recover the bodies.

The victims were identified as Pushpita Dey (11), Kuntal Saha (11), Radha Karmakar (10) and Sakshi Das (14), the Mr Mirza added.
