Four Members Of Family Killed In Road Mishap In Kota

Four members of a family were killed when a passenger bus hit a motorbike in Kota district.

Kota: Four members of a family were killed when a speeding passenger bus hit the motorbike they were riding on near Laban village at Bapawar-Chabra route of Kota district on Wednesday morning, police said.

The incident took place around 10:45 am. While three persons died on the spot, the fourth one succumbed on the way to the hospital.

The deceased have been identified as Mr Janki Lal Meghwal (35), his sister Ms Manphulabai (40), and two nieces Ms Dalibai (18) and Ms Vishnubai (14), all residents of Kishanpura village of Baran district, said Mr Abhay Singh, assistant sub-inspector at Bapawar police station.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, he said. Meanwhile, irate locals set the private passenger bus on fire following the mishap, said Mr Sudhir Kumar, station house officer  (SHO) at Bapawar police station.

The driver of the passenger bus fled from the spot after the mishap, he said, adding that the flames were controlled in time and the situation is normal now.

A case against the passenger bus driver would be lodged in this connection, the SHO said.
