French 'Spiderman' scales Pune's tallest
Pune: To climb a 20-storey building of over 100 metres, and that too in just about 10 minutes, you have to be either a Superman or a Spiderman. But, for Alain Robert this is nothing.

Robert, who is popularly known as the 'French Spiderman', achieved yet another feet on Sunday when he scaled Pune's tallest building amid applause of hundreds of people.

It was easy going for Robert who has earlier scaled all the world' tallest buildings, including the Petronas twin towers at Kuala Lumpur, the Sears towers in Chicago and even the Eiffel Tower in Paris - all of which are well about 500 metres.

But for the people of Pune, it was rare spectacle to watch Robert crawl like a spider on the wall with no harness or a rope. He hardly took any time to climb the tower and realising that the crowd could not get to see more of his antics, he came down the same route as the people - along with Russian cheergirls - cheered him.

Robert started this passion after he first climbed his seventh floor flat when he was 11-year-old. Finding that he had forgotten the house keys and his parents were out on work, he did his maiden Spiderman stunt and then converted this into his hobby and a passion.

He also holds the Guiness record of being arrested in 14 different countries for climbing high rise buildings. But Alain has a word of caution for the youngsters not to emulate this as it took years of practice and determination to reach this stage.
