Frequent flyer thieves liked posh hotels
Ahmedabad: It appeared like a scene straight out of a Bollywood flick. The Ahmedabad crime branch has caught hold of a gang of robbers that planned and executed robberies in style.

Five members of the Flier Gang, as it called itself, because they always flew from one point to another, were arrested by the cops and loot items worth crores were recovered from them.
And then came to light one the most shocking but yet interesting modus operandi of robbery.

The gang that struck all across the country followed a unique robbery technique. First, a few members of the gang would fly to the target city and identify the most posh localities there.
While on the act, they always chose the best of hotels to stay and used the swankiest cars. After locating targets- mostly houses where no one stayed during the day time-they made their kill.

Their loot included expensive showpieces, ornaments of gold and silver, cash and also electronics at times.

"They have confessed to have struck in Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Delhi, Pune, Mumbai, Nagpur and other cities," said Himanshu Shukla the DCP Crime branch.

After finishing their task, the gang always left the hotel, in the same swanky cars they used during the loot. They never travelled on buses or trains but always flew back to the next target city, said the crime branch officials.

While these five members are under detention and being interrogated, the police believe many members of the gang are still roaming scot free in other cities.

The police are now on a look out for the rest of the members.
