Coimbatore:
Twenty-one people were arrested after police busted an illegal gambling den in the city and seized over Rs 2.3 lakh in cash from the scene in Kuniyamuthur here.
The arrests, part of a drive to curb the menace of gambling and other anti-social practices in and around the city, occurred when a special police team raided a farm house in Puttuvikki in Kuniyamuthur area last night, a police statement said.
The accused have been booked under section 8 and 9 of Tamil Nadu Gambling Act, it said.
Meanwhile, City Police Commissioner, Amaresh Pujari, issued a stern warning that stringent action would be initiated against those involved in gambling and other anti-social activities.
