Bareilly:
A 19-year-old girl succumbed to injuries after she was allegedly burnt alive by three men in Bareilly on Saturday. The incident occurred after the parents of the victim had filed a molestation case against those men who have been accused of molesting the victim two weeks ago.
The family alleges that the victim was threatened by the accused for filing a complaint of molestation against them in the local police station. They also claim, three accused were earlier detained by the local police, but they were forced to arrive at a compromise and the men were later released.
Before she succumbed to injuries, the victim had said, "Three of them came when my brother wasn't home. They closed the door, poured oil, set me on fire and ran away. I opened the door and my sister-in-law was there. She got burnt too. Then the neighbours came in and saved me."
The brother of the victim said, "They were threatening her and when they saw her alone at home, they set her on fire."
The Deputy Inspector General of the district Antony Dev Kumar says that action will be taken against the cops at the local police station who forced the victim's family to make a compromise with the accused.
