Girl escapes rape attempt by cab driver in Gurgaon

Gurgaon:

An 18-year-old girl who had gone to see off her relativeat the Palam airport was fortunate to escape a rape attempt on Sunday. Thevictim lives with her family in Gurgaon and works with a private firm. She hadcome to the Capital along with her relative who had to board a domestic flight.

According to the police, the victim was about to hire acab to return home when the accused came riding an Innova car. He told the girlthat he was also going to Gurgaon and would drop her in return for some money.

When the cab reached Sikandarpur in Gurgaon, the victimasked the driver, Chetan Sharma, to stop the cab, but he slapped her andaccelerated the vehicle.

The girl says she tried to jump off from the moving cabbut failed as Chetan had locked the door. He then called his associate Pawan tomeet him near Vasant Kunj. Police said Chetan stopped the car near a temple inVasant Kunj where Pawan was already present.

Chetan dragged the victim out of the car. But she ranaway and approached the police. "We arrested the   two and seized their INNOVA car after thevictim identified them," said a police officer.
