Medininagar (Jharkhand): A 19-year-old girl, who was scheduled to get married next week, was allegedly raped and murdered in her home in Jharkhand's Palamu district, police said on Wednesday.
According to an FIR lodged by the girl's father, her bleeding body was found hanging in her room after her family members, who had gone shopping for the wedding, returned home at Mangardaha locality on Tuesday afternoon.
The family members also claimed there were scratches on her body and that jewellery worth Rs 50,000 purchased for her marriage were also missing from the house.
The girl was to get married on next Monday and her mother is a panchayat representative.
The body has been sent for postmortem.
