They allege that the girl was stalked, abused and harassed by the man and her father had complained to the police, but no action was taken.
"Residents are very angry, people from surrounding villages have also gathered at the spot and are not allowing police to take the body away for post mortem", Ramchandra Bhure, a local resident said.
A college student in Maharashtra was brutally attacked and stabbed to death on Friday by a man who had often stalked and harassed her but was allegedly not stopped by the police despite complaints.
32-year-old Deva Gabhne, who is married, attacked the girl near a village in the Bhandara district, when she was on her way to college.
He allegedly kept stabbing her with a sharp object. She died on the spot.
