Coimbatore: A 19-year-old girl has been admitted to hospital after allegedly jumping from the second floor of her college building here when scolded by her teacher, police said.
The incident, in which Bhuvaneshwari, a third year student of Government Women's Polytechnic, allegedly tried to commit suicide two days ago, came to light when some students of the college agitated today, blaming the teacher concerned and the college principal over the issue, police said.
Bhuvaneshwari had been asked by her teacher to go out of the class, for asking another girl who had already been instructed by her to stand outside, to come and sit in the class, police said.
Bhuvaneshwari had mistook a gesture made by the teacher that she was asking the student who had been punished to come inside, they added.
The student suffered fractures and investigations were on into the incident, they said.
