Gold biscuits stolen from Nellore office

Hyderabad: Thieves decamped with Rs 73 lakh in cash and two kg gold biscuits from office dealing
in online trading in Nellore town of Andhra Pradesh in the wee hours on Monday, police said.

Thieves struck at the office of one Srinivasulu, who deals in online trading, futures and gold trading maybe after mid-night yesterday, they said.

The theft came to light this morning, when Srinivasulu found the office ransacked and alerted the police.

The office owner had recently brought 72 gold biscuits (weighing 100 gm each) from Hyderabad and sold 52 of them, a senior police official said adding "Srinivasulu used to sleep in his office daily, but yesterday he slept in his house upstairs the office."

Burglars opened the shutter locks using duplicate keys and made away with the booty, the police official said.

According to the complainant, thieves took away Rs 73 lakh cash and 20 gold biscuits kept in the locker.

Meanwhile, a police constable on beat duty found about Rs 5 lakh cash lying on a street nearby the office and it is suspected after seeing the police about four persons, who may be involved in the office burglary left behind the cash and fled, the police official said.
