Three people,including a railway police constable, were arrested for allegedly
accepting abribe from a vendor from Dombivali railway station in the district, the Anti CorruptionBureau or ACB officials said.
Thirty fiveyear old Kabir Pirjade, a constable with theGovernment Railway Police (GRP) was arrested late last night alongwith two agents Rafique Mohmammad Shaikh (40) and
HemantDnyaneshwar Dabholkar (29), Superintendent of Police ACB ThaneDatta Karale said.
Pirjade haddemanded Rs 8,500 from the vendor for allowinghim to carry on his business of selling goods on the stationpremises, which the complainant had agreed to pay.
Accordingly,he was to pay Rs 5,000 to the constable last night.
Meanwhile,the complainant approached the Anti CorruptionBureau, which laid a trap and caught Pirjade acceptingthe money. The two agents were also held.
The triohas been booked under sections of Prevention ofCorruption Act 1988.
Furtherprobe into the case is being carried out by the Thane Unit ACB.
