Jamnagar: A lawmaker in Gujarat was hospitalized after she fell into an open drain in Gujarat this morning. She has now been airlifted to Mumbai.
Poonamben Madam was visiting a slum in her constituency of Jamnagar city, about 330 kilometres from the state capital of Gandhinagar.
She had been asked for help by residents of the slum whose illegal homes were to be demolished.
Poonamben was standing on a slab of cement covering a large open drain, nearly 10 feet deep, when the makeshift bridge caved in. She has been injured on her head, said the police.
