Demanding fees from a student proved costly for a headmaster at Zilla Parishad school at Timtala as relatives of first standard student beat him on Tuesday, police said.
Police registered offences against both the headmaster as well as parents of student on counter complaints.
Pravin Pawar, the headmaster at primary school of Zilla Parishad at Timtala near Badnera asked the little girl Komal Bhadke to pay her fees of Rs 15, on which her father Suresh Bhadke and few others reached the school and assaulted the headmaster, police said.
As another teacher Vinod Kuhekar intervened to save Pawar, the accused also manhandled him, they said.
Pawar sustained injuries on his face and eyes and was sent for medical treatment to the District General Hospital, police said.
On the complaint of Pawar, Loni police registered an offence against Bhadke and others. While Bhadke's wife Babita also registered a counter complaint against Pawar and alleged that he misbehaved with her when she was alone at home.
Police have registered offence against Pawar and are investigating further in this case.
Meanwhile, the teachers of the school demanded action against the accused family and submitted a memorandum to Deputy CEO of Zilla Parishad and education officer and also threatened for an agitation if action is not taken against the accused.
