Heavy rains cause waterlogging in Cuttack

Cuttack: Vast areas of Cuttack experienced waterlogging as the city received over 80 mm of rainfall for over four hours yesterday.

While many roads had knee-deep to waist-deep water, rainwater also gushed into residential and business complexes, which had not faced such a situation during the recent cyclone.

The district collector and the city mayor were also not spared. Rainwater had entered the collector's residence at Biju Patnaik square forcing the district magistrate Girish SN to wade through ankle-deep water to come out of it, official sources said.

Similarly, city mayor SK Ghosh had to wade through knee-deep water to come out of his Haripur residence.

The met office has predicted more rains today.
