Dehradun: A group of tourists had gathered at a canteen near Haridwar for an evening snack, when the meal was interrupted. The thundering sound of what turned out to be a herd of elephants had the travelers running in panic.
The elephants are from Chila, a wildlife reserve in the region, and emerged in quick succession this evening - one calf and four adults - pounding the pavement as they charged.
Nobody was harmed; the elephants crossed the nearby barrage to the other side of the forest.
