Mumbai: Two maids hired to clean a house for Diwali allegedly stole jewellery reportedly worth Rs 4.40 lakh in Mumbai.
The incident happened at Vasant Vihar in Thane on Tuesday. Dipa Ayyer, a resident, found temporary maids with the help of the building watchman.
At about 1pm, both of them went out for lunch, but did not return. On a hunch, Deepa opened the cupboard in the bedroom to check her valuables. To her shock, she found gold jewellery missing.
She could recall the name of the maid, who had identified herself as Seema.
