Delhi:
Hoax calls kept Delhi Police on its toes on Holi festival with the control room receiving around 250 false alarms.
Between 8 AM and 8 PM on Monday, around 238 bogus calls were received by the Police Control Room (PCR), a senior police official said. The PCR received a total of 6,100 calls during the day.
"Yesterday, we received a large number of bogus calls much more than any other day. We received 238 calls which could be described as bogus or hoax calls," the official said.
One of the calls received from west Delhi's Uttam Nagar talked about a double murder in which two brothers were killed during a scuffle between two groups, he said. However, it turned out to be a hoax.
Another call was received from Sultanpuri about an incident of firing following a fight between two neighbours.
When police rushed to the spot, they found there was no shoot out and it was just a case of minor scuffle.
