Home Guards to train students on traffic regulations

Coimbatore: The city home guards plan to coordinate with Chief Education Officer and include both Government and Private schools in and around the city to impart traffic awareness training within a fixed timeframe, a senior official said today.
    
Traffic classes are now being conducted for students from 3rd to 9th standards in Government schools, T K Dhanashekar, Area Commander, Home Guards, Coimbatore, told reporters here.
  
Stating that home guards were working on a programme to educate school children about the importance of traffic rules and regulations, he said the main aim was to ensure all children were educated to follow rules and regulations.
   
A traffic park, a model park with signals, sign boards, zebra crossing and functioning at Police Recruitment School here would be reopened on Nov 27, followed by a health camp and eye camp for the drivers of State Transport Corporation, call taxi and autorickshaw drivers, Dhanasekhar said.
