Hooda's Big Fat Haryana wedding

Hooda's Big Fat Haryana wedding
Rohtak: All roads lead to Rohtak today. The dusty Haryana town is hosting over 20,000 people. Not at a political rally, but at lunch - a political gathering all the same.

Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda weds Sweta, daughter of senior Rajasthan Congress leader Ram Prakash Mirdha on February 21, and this is the pre-wedding bash.

The bandobast is big. This is after all for the local MP and Chief Minister's son - Deepender is the son of Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

Tight security arrangements have been made in and around Rohtak in view of a number of VIPs expected at the bash. Additional police units and officials have been brought in from other parts of Haryana.

The gigantic lunch will be partaken of at Baba Mastnath College of Engineering grounds. Traffic is being diverted around the venue and even the autorickshaw drivers of the city have decided not to ply their 10,000 odd vehicles to keep the city roads uncluttered.

Local opposition leaders have been quick to claim that no alternate arrangements have been made for hapless commuters who have to do their daily grind and shall not be making their way to the college grounds for lunch in their Sunday best.

The wedding will be held in Jaipur on February 21.

This is Deepender's second marriage. The 32-year-old was earlier married Geeta Grewal, a dentist and daughter of a Haryana government official. They divorced in 2005.

The bride Sweta's elder sister Jyoti Mirdha is a Congress MP from Nagaur in Rajasthan.

Deepender Hooda had won the Rohtak Lok Sabha seat by an impressive margin of over 445,000 votes in May last year.
