Jajpur:
A woman teacher of an upper primary school at Arei, about 16 km from Jajpur was attacked allegedly by her husband with a sharp weapon in the school premises this morning, police said.
The husband allegedly inflicted multiple injuries on the 44-year-old teacher's face and other parts of her body before he was arrested for allegedly attempting to murder her, the police said.
The incident took place while the teacher was teaching a class at Baruneswar Upper Primary school.
She was rushed to the local government hospital and later shifted to the district headquarters hospital at Jajpur town when her condition deteriorated, the police said.
According to the FIR filed with the police, the teacher had received a phone call from her husband while she was teaching the class at about 8 am.
He asked her to meet him in the school premises and just as she reached the spot, he allegedly pulled out a knife and started hitting her at various places on her body, including her face.
The teacher's screams for help made her colleagues rush and rescue her.
The head master of the school informed the police of the matter, the FIR said.
Superintendent of police Deepak Kumar said the husband, who absconded after the incident was tracked and arrested after conducting raids at various places.
Dispute between the unemployed man and his teacher wife over money is stated as the reason behind the attack, police added.
