A couple has been arrested in connection with the rape of a woman here, police said today.
Prakash Gaikwad and his wife Mangla were arrested last night in Mohammadwadi area after the victim lodged a complaint alleging rape and blackmail against the duo.
Mangla, according to the complaint, befriended the victim who runs a small grocery shop and invited her to her house for a cup of tea.
The victim was then allegedly raped by Prakash, who threatened her with a weapon, even as Mangla used her cellphone to photograph them.
Prakash, who is a labour contractor in the area, continued to rape the victim for a long time threatening her of showing the pictures to her husband, police said.
Further investigations are on.
