Pune: An IIT graduate working as a scientist in the National Chemicals Laboratory in Pune reportedly strangulated his younger sister to death at the Aparjita apartments around 5:00 am on Wednesday morning.
Subojit Basu killed his 23-year-old sister Priyadarshini who was working with Greenpeace. He later attempted to stab himself to death and has been admitted to the YCM hospital in Pimpri.
According to neighbours, the siblings belonged to Kolkata and were staying at the apartment for the last one year.
The police are trying to ascertain the cause behind the murder and are yet to question the youth. A case has been registered at the Hinjewadi police station.
