Indigo flight returns to Agartala airport after bird-hit

Agartala: A Delhi-bound Indigo Airlines Airbus flight had a narrow shave when it suffered a bird hit immediately after take-off from the Agartala airport on Wednesday.

The aircraft had just taken off when a large bird, possibly a falcon or an eagle, was sucked into the engine, prompting the pilot to immediately fly back to the tarmac, airline sources said.

All the 177 passengers and six crew members on board were safe, the sources said.

Director of Airport Authority of India S D Burman said there was a problem in the flight caused by birds.
SP (Police Control), Uttam Majumder said the incident occurred at 10:30 am.

The aircraft was being checked, airlines sources added.
