Usually inmates are allowed to meet relative in a place where they stand separated.
Thane:
In a unique programme held in Thane jail premises, convicts were given a chance to meet their children, an occasion that they rarely get to live.
The programme was initiated by jail Superintendent Hiralal Jadhav, who apprised that such a thing was held for the first time that a dozen of inmates were meeting their children at the entrance of the jail, yesterday.
It was an emotional moment for both convicts and children who hugged each other. Many of them were moved to tears, he said.
Mr Jadhav said such meetings would be arranged for inmates at regular interval of two to three months.
Usually, inmates are allowed to meet their relatives in meeting place where they stand separated by grilled wall and visitors on the other.
