Jaipur:
In a shocking incident a deputy legal officer (DLO), Chanchal Chauhan, 54, working at Pant Krishi Bhawan committed suicide in her office by hanging from a ceiling on late Monday evening.
On Monday when Chauhan did not reach home on time her relatives including her husband rushed at the office at around 10.30 pm to found her hanging from the ceiling fan in her office.
The deceased's husband Jeetendra Singh Chouhan could not believe the tragedy that struck the family. Sitting outside the mortuary of Sawai Man Singh hospital, he cried, "She was perfectly alright. We went for Dandia and Dussehra festival yesterday(Sunday)."
Inspector General of Police, Jaipur Range-1, BL Soni, told DNA, "After the family reached they spotted her moped parked at the parking lot of the Bhawan. Her husband who retired in January, 2010 as assistant irrigation officer then asked the guard to take them to the room in the office where she used to work."
"Once near the room in which was her office, the family members called her up on her cell and when they heard the ringing bell of cellphone, suspecting her to be inside the door was broken. And the family saw her hanging over a ceiling with the help of a rope," Soni added.
Asked if the deceased had left some suicide note or hinted on her extreme step, Kushal Singh, Station House officer, Ashok Nagar, said, "In her suicide note she wished that no family member of hers' should be harassed as it was her decision to take this step. She has also mentioned that her eyes should be donated and her post mortem should not be done."
A family friend outside the SMS Hospital mortuary said that in her suicide note, Chanchal Chauhan had mentioned that no one was responsible for her suicide.
She even wrote in her note that her body should not be taken to their home as her daughter in law was expecting a child and it would be inauspicious for the child in the womb.
