Jaipur: Orphans tortured by caretaker for spending Rs 50

Jaipur: In a terrible case of care-givers turning oppressors, three orphaned children in Jaipur were thrashed by the owner of the Centre where they lived for years.

The owner of Jaipur's 'Anand Bal Grah', a private centre for orphans where these children lived, thrashed them black and blue as they had spent Rs 50 of the 1000 rupees they found during Diwali cleaning to buy some snacks. The Centre owner then burnt them with cigarettes and locked them up for three days.

"He tied me with a rope and stuffed my mouth with a cloth. Then I was hung upside down and beaten badly," said Shyam Kumar, one of the victims.

"Sir, I don't want to live here. He beat us very badly. We don't have parents, please save us from here," added Manju Soni, another victim.

When one of the battered children complained to her school principal and the Police took the Centre owner and his employee into custody.

The two feigned ignorance but the police have booked them for brutal beating and illegal confinement.

"When we reached the school, we found that the girl who had complained had lots of injury marks and bruises on her body. When we questioned the centre owner, he said the children had stolen money and that's why this incident happened," said Chain Singh, SHO, Jhotwara Police Station, Jaipur.

While the Centre Owner has been arrested, the traumatized children who've lived at the Centre for over seven years, do not wish to stay there even for a single day.

However, as they are all orphans, the dilemma is where can they go.
