Jaipur: Parents held for killing daughter in Churu

Jaipur: In a suspected case of honour killing at Sadulpur in Churu district of the state, the police have produced the mother and father of the murdered woman to the local court and have also arrested one of the uncles of the deceased woman. The police said that there could be more members behind this heinous crime.

According to the police, the deceased girl's mother, Santosh Kanwar, was produced before the court and was sent to judicial custody. However, the father identified as Bharat Singh has been taken to police remand to investigate the case further.

"It is clear that the woman was murdered by the relatives including the parents, but we suspect that there could more relatives involved in this case and thus we have taken the girl's father in police remand for further interrogation," said Mahendra Sharma, SHO of Hameerwas police station of Churu district.

However, the police clearly denied that it was a case of honour killing as superintendent of police, Churu, Nisar Ahamed Farooqi, said, "It is a murder of a girl who was already married thus it is not honour killing. The girl, though had an illicit relationship with a boy in Jaipur, still she was married to some other boy by her parents against her wishes. Thus it can't be termed as honour killing."

It is noteworthy that in yet another case of deterioration of human relationships the mother and father of a 20-year old married Rajput girl had killed her since she had an acquaintance with a boy of another caste.
