Jaipur: Property dealer killed in his own house

Jaipur: A highly-decomposed body of a property dealer was recovered from his Pratap Nagar residence in city. The police have started searching for the tenant couple who were living in the same house and are currently missing. The murder came to light on Sunday morning.

The deceased, Hanuman Bagra, 40, was last seen by the neighbours on November 7. On Sunday, the police broke open the house after residents in the area complained about a foul smell emanating from it.

Bagra had sold a piece of land some time back, in which he had earned a profit of `17 lakh, which the police suspect could be the motive behind the murder.

After opening the house, the police found his mutilated body. The deceased seems to have been done to death last week. Additional superintendent of police (East) Rahul Barath, told DNA, "We have launched a manhunt for the tenant couple, Ramniwas Meena and his wife Kamlesh, who, too, are missing since last week."

Barath said, "After a foul smell started emanating from the house, the area residents, suspecting some corpse inside, reported the matter to police. A police team accompanied by the forensic science laboratory (FSL) officials reached the spot to investigate the matter. The police found the mutilated body of Bagra."

Giving further details, ASP Barath said, "The deceased had sold a piece of land some time back, in which he had earned a profit of `17 lakh. After receiving this money, he got separated from his family and shifted to this house at Pratap Nagar."

Police said that Bagra was probably hit by iron rods since there were injuries of some blunt weapon on his head. "The exact cause of death would be clear after the post-mortem report," an officer said.

"As per the neighbours, the deceased used to have heated arguments with the tenant couple living in his house. The murder might be the handiwork of the estranged tenants. But, it would be premature to say anything at this stage," a senior investigating officer said.
