It was meant to be a coaching session for sarpanchs and zila pramukhs. Instead, it turned out to be learning experience for the state government.
In a training workshop organised for the elected representatives from rural Rajasthan, sarpanchs, pradhans and zila pramukhs spat out their anger and frustration before cabinet ministers and department heads giving them a piece of their mind on the eyewash -- billed as decentralisation of democracy.
The government had organised the workshop for zila pramukhs, sarpanchs and pradhans in Jaipur to tutor them in managing the five subjects whose administrative control was recently handed over to them.
Most elected representatives complained about the "irrational transfer of schoolteachers" made by the education department just days before the government delegated the authority over elementary education to them.
Looking into the enormity of the complaints, panchayati raj minister Bharat Singh issued immediate orders to principal secretary education Ashok
