With the death of one more person, the toll due to diarrhoea has gone up to three in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, where 20 more patients have been admitted to the district hospital.
"Chuni Lal, a resident of Udhyanpur in Doda, who was hospitalised last week died of diarrhoea in the district hospital yesterday evening," Medical Superintendent of district hospital Doda, Mohammad Fareed said today.
With the death of Lal, the toll has gone upto three. A child Zahitona Banu and an elderly person died since the outbreak of diarrhoea in Doda.
20 persons with diarrhoea symptoms have been admitted to the hospital till today, Fareed said.
As many as 2100 diarrhoea patients have been identified in several remote and mountainous areas of Doda and Ramban districts by the teams of doctors during nearly the past two weeks.
Of these, nearly 1400 patients were identified in Doda and 750 in Ramban districts, Health officials said, adding, of these nearly 1800 patients were hospitalised and rest were treated in their respective areas by the teams of doctors.
A high level team of Union Health Ministry conducted a four-day visit to the area and took water samples of different streams for medical examination and submission of a report to the central government.
