Jammu: Squabble at Sonia birthday function

Jammu: A verbal duel between two Congress leaders disrupted a function organised by the party's Jammu and Kashmir unit to celebrate the birthday of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi here on Wednesday.

The trouble erupted when Congress activist Pawan Raina started interrupting speeches of party leaders, including Jammu and Kashmir Health Minister Sham Lal Sharma.

The Minister requested Raina to behave but he refused to heed to his advice. Soon a verbal duel ensued leading to the forcible ouster of Raina from the hall.

The function, attended by several state Ministers and top Congress leaders at the party headquarters here, resumed after an hour-long disruption.

Confirming the incident, Sharma told PTI that Raina misbehaved with one and all and "I tried to prevent him from doing so leading to the unfortunate happening".

"He was drunk. He had earlier broken the lock of the room of the JKPCC president."
