Jamshedpur:
A primary report on the explosion in the LD gas holder of the Tata Steel factory in Jamshedpur, which left eleven workers including company employees injured, has been submitted, a top official in the office of the Inspector of Factory said today.
We have already submitted a primary report based on the preliminary investigation into the explosion which took place on Thursday last, said Chief of Inspector of Factory, Awadesh Kumar Singh, adding that the point of explosion, number of injuries caused, timing of explosion and suspected cause were among other aspects mentioned in the report.
The thorough investigation into the incident would be undertaken soon after purging of gases in the vicinity of the place of explosion, he said.
As per the factory law, we have to submit the detail report in 30 days, but we are expecting it to do in a fortnight, Mr Singh said.
Jharkhand Labour Commissioner Puja Singhal had on Friday last suspected that an unstable mixture of gases could have caused the explosion.
"The incident did not happen because of short circuit or any fault in the gas holder. Prima facie, it seemed the explosion took place due to the possibility of unstable mixture in certain proportion of the gas or air which resulted in auto ignition," Ms Singhal had said after visiting the explosion site.
Mr Singh, who had asked to submit a report in connection with the incident in three days, had also directed to stop production in the affected unit till the investigating team is totally satisfied with the safety drill.
