Jilted lover triggers blast, arrested

Vadodara: A 29-year-old entrepreneur was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly setting off crude bomb blasts at a house here to avenge his failed love, police said.

Pratik Patel was arrested on a tip off for triggering three crude bomb blasts at Samruddhi society in Manjalpur locality on April 9. Fortunately no one was injured in the blast, City Commissioner of Police Rakesh Asthana said.

Patel was in one-sided love with the wife of complainant Jitendra Limbachiya, he alleged.

However, when he failed to win the heart of Limbachiya's wife, he planned to blow up the entire family, the Commissioner alleged.

Police recovered four live bombs, two plastic explosive bottles, four small bombs and other material used in the making of a bomb from Patel's house, Asthana said.

Patel learnt the art of making a crude bomb from the internet and nobody was involved in it except him, the Commissioner alleged.

Asthana said the arrested youth hails from Bhiloda town of Sabarkantha district and has been staying in the city for last two years. He owns an industrial shed at Varnama village about 15 km from the city.
