Mumbai:
After repeated rejections from his niece, an obsessive lover killed her and then gashed his hands to write her name in blood.
Twenty-five-year-old Kiran Dongarshi was brutally attacked by her uncle, Ajay Dongarshi in Malabar Hill. Ajay had been in love with Kiran for the past one month but she rejected his advances and marriage proposals, said a police officer.
"We reached the spot and saw Kiran lying in a pool of blood. Ajay was writing her name and managed to write the letters K and I before losing consciousness," said an eyewitness.
According to the police, Ajay did not have a job and his three children stayed with their grandparents since his wife's demise last year. Kiran told her mother and brother when Ajay started troubling her, but they kept mum to avoid bringing disrepute to the family.
"She had complained to us about this and we had warned Ajay but we never thought things would end like this. I saw blood in the house when I came back and saw my sister lying dead," said Kamlesh Dongarshi, Kiran's brother.
After reaching the spot, the Malabar Hill police took Kiran and Ajay to G T hospital where Kiran was declared dead in the evening. "A murder case under Section 302 has been registered against Ajay and we will arrest him after he is discharged," said a police official.
"Ajay's condition is now stable and he is out of danger. Both his hands had deep gashes. Whether he is mentally unstable or not will only be known after a full medical exam", said Dr Sangharsh Mhaisane.
