Karnataka: 'Power struck' Labour Minister crushes common man

Bangalore: Labour minister of Karnataka, B N Bache Gowda tried to prove his might by crumbling down a common man's pleas.

Bache Gowda allegedly got his staff  beat up Bharat, a man who overtook his car on the highway.

Not just stopping at that, he also got the police register an FIR against the man after he instructed police officers to check if Bharat had been drinking and file a case against him for rash and  driving.

"He nearly hit the driver's side of the car. I was getting a smell from him so I asked him are you drunk? The woman with him, I think his wife said, 'my husband doesn't drink.' So I said, without drinking why is he speaking like this," said Bache Gowda, Karnataka Labour Minister.

Bharat's family on the other hand, refutes all the charges that he was drunk.

"Bharat has never drunk in his life," Lokappa Gowda, Bharat's father.

With the matter catching the media glare, the Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa too had to budge in apologizing for what had happened.

But, the non-defiant Bache Gowda maintained he had done nothing wrong.

"I  just asked him to apologise...it was his fault ...and told him I had stopped him for his own safety. I have not put any board on my car saying 'don't overtake.'

Call it a case of  drunken driving or of a minister drunk with power? There are two sides to every story.
