Kendrapara, Orissa: An eighteen-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped at a sea beach in Orissa's Kendrapara district by a group of wayward youths after tying the victim's male companion to a tree.
The incident, according to police sources, took place at Tanda sea beach on Friday evening.
"Five youths in an inebriated state sexually assaulted the victim by turn. The male relative was giving her company during a stroll on the beach when the incident took place," said a police official.
As the male relative objected to sexual advances towards the girl, they tied him to a tree and physically abused her one after the other, said Pravas Kumar Pal, Inspector of Mahakalpada police station.
One of the suspected culprits has been taken into custody.
The victim was later sent for medical examination, police said.
