Kolkata Police arrested three people early Tuesday morning in connection with the arms haul of 5000 bullets from a car on Monday.
Around 4:15 am on Monday, the three people had fled when police stopped a vehicle in north Kolkata for a traffic violation.
The search of the vehicle revealed bags full of 5000 bullets stashed under the seat. The bullets were for .315 bore guns. The vehicle had a Bihar registration plate.
The Special Task Force of the Kolkata Police is investigating the case. The bullets may have been meant for Maoists, it is being suspected.
