Kolkkata: A man allegedly committed suicide by jumping before a running metro train at the Chandni Chowk station in Kolkata on Wednesday, the second similar incident in two days.
The incident occurred at around 8 pm when 35-year-old Jogender Singh jumped before the Dum Dum bound train as it was entering Chandni Chowk, metro sources said.
The driver immediately applied the brakes, but the man could not be saved, they said, adding that train services remained disrupted till 8.51 pm.
A woman had allegedly committed suicide on Tuesday by jumping before a train entering Shovabazar station.
This is the year's fifth case of suicide in this manner. Five persons had attempted suicide by jumping before a metro train since January, they said.
