Kolkata:
The investigation into a 13-year-old's suicide in Kolkata has allegedly established that the school he attended, the prestigious La Martiniere Boys' School , was responsible for humiliating and torturing him. In February, Rouvan Rawla was found hanging in his family home.
The National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has questioned the principal of the school, Sunirmal Chakravarthi. The child's father, Ajay, says that during his questioning, Chakravarthi said that he caned the Class 8 student days before his suicide.
A critical part of the investigation focuses on whether Chakravathi's demand to meet Rouvan's father about discipline problems motivated the child's suicide.
