Kota: An 18-year-old student from Bihar died after being attacked last night allegedly by other students armed with knives and rods in the coaching hub of Kota in Rajasthan, which has been in the news for exam-related suicides.
Satya Prakash, who was prepping for medical entrance exams, was walking to his hostel room after dinner at the mess with his friend Sandeep Kumar when they were attacked.
"The dispute was between student groups over leadership. Some students attacked this boy outside the mess, we have arrested three-four people in this case and others have been identified and will be arrested soon," said senior police officer Sawai Singh Godara.
Mr Godara said the attackers came on two or three motorcycles.
Satya Prakash, the son of a postmaster in Bihar, was declared dead in hospital. His friend Sandeep, who had come from Bihar four days ago, is in a critical condition.
"Around 8.30 pm I came out of my house when I heard a loud noise and saw 150 boys on the road with sticks, rods and some had knives. I called the police. The boys ran away. I saw the boy lying injured and took him to hospital," said an eyewitness, Bhuvesh Gupta.
