In a fit of rage, a man shot his neighbour when the latter refused to stop teasing and troubling his sister, in Nayapura locality of Kota district on Friday.
The accused, identified as Shambu Singh (45), was quite upset with the victim, as he would pass vulgar remarks at his sister and embarrass the family with his bike stunts, all aimed at wooing Shambu's sister.
Prafful Kumar, Superintendent of Police, Kota city, said, "Shambu's family was quite disturbed with Bhawani's behaviour. Shambu had invited Bhawani for a dialogue to resolve the matter on Friday evening. However, they entered into an argument, which turned violent and later Shambu opened fire at Bhawani. The bullet hit him in the head."
Refuting reports that the girl and the victim were in a relationship, Kumar said, "No, they were not. Bhawani had been teasing the girl for quite some time and the accused had told him to 'behave'."
The accused is a Constable at the Home Guards and had a licensed 12 bore pistol, with which he opened fire at Bhawani.
Soon after the incident, neighbours informed the police and Shambu was arrested along with his 12 bore pistol. "An injured Bhawani Singh was rushed to a government hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival," a police officer said.
