Kurla: 6-year-old boy dies, 10 injured in building collapse

Kurla, Mumbai: A 6-year-old died and ten others were injured when a four-storeyed building collapsed in suburban Kurla on Wednesday night, fire brigade officials said.

"Rafiq Estate, a residential building in Qureshi Nagar area of Kurla, caved in at around 12.30 am," an official said.

They said 10 people were injured in the incident and they have been rushed to nearby hospitals. Some more people are feared trapped inside, they added.

Those trapped were rescued and moved to the local hospital. Nine fire engines aided in the rescue work.

"Around 1 am, we got to know that a four-storey building has collapsed. We rushed to the spot immediately and started rescue work. We managed to out rescue three of the four trapped fromt the debris. But the child could not survive even after he was pulled out," said Anand Sungh, Inspector, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). (With PTI Inputs)
