Late for work, hotel employee makes hoax call

New Delhi: A 22-year-old man, who got late for his work at Hotel Ashoka allegedly made a hoax call about a bomb at the five-star facility here, but landed in police net.

Sukuman Tamang, working in China Garden Restaurant of Hotel Ashoka, allegedly made the hoax call last Sunday about a bomb planted there leading to a massive search operation, a senior police official said today.

However, he was arrested yesterday from the hotel following investigations into the matter.

Tamang, who resides in south Delhi's Munirka, allegedly made the call to hoodwink his seniors as he was getting late for work.

"He made the hoax call thinking that it will keep his bosses busy and they will not notice his late arrival for work," the official said.
