Mumbai: Former Supreme Court Judge B N Srikrishna, appointed by the Bombay High Court to resolve the matrimonial dispute between playback singer Adnan Sami and his wife Sabah Galadari, has expressed inability to sort out issues between the warring couple.
The High Court was informed about this by Mahesh Jethmalani and Vibhav Krishna, lawyers of Sabah and Adnan respectively, when the case came up for hearing on February 1.
The court observed that though it had not received Justice Srikrishna's report, it had taken note of oral submissions of the lawyers about the ex-judge's efforts to bring about a settlement having gone waste.
The Bombay High Court had sought mediation of retired Justice Srikrishna on Sabah's appeal against a family court's order which dismissed her divorce plea on the ground that she had not complied with Halala formalities under Muslim law.
Meanwhile, Adnan married a foreign national named Roya last month and Sabah served a notice on the singer saying she would move the court to restrain his newly-wedded wife and mother from entering her (Sabah's) matrimonial home here.
However, the High Court did not grant any relief to Sabah as on the date of the notice she had not filed a petition in this regard.
Justice Srikrishna was reportedly unable to resolve the discord as Sabah stuck to her stand that she wanted the disputed property and desired to pursue the criminal case of torture against Adnan and his mother.
