Nashik: A one-and-half year-old leopard was found dead in a jungle in Chunchale Shivar in Nashik with serious injuries indicating a prolonged fight with another wild cat, forest officials said today.

The leopard died in Panjara Pol area on Tuesday, forest officer Rajan Gaikwad told PTI .

According to the official, area supervisers Gopal Patil and Dattu Shirsath found the leopard dead around 9.30 AM after hearing growls in the morning. They later shifted the leopard's carcass to Jawaharlal Nehru Garden in the evening.

Mr Gaikwad said a cage has been kept in the area to trap the other leopard which disappeared into the thick forests after the incident.
