Lucknow: A Saharanpur court has sentenced 12 people to seven years imprisonment for gangraping a teenaged girl in a 16-year-old case.
The additional sessions judge Mohd Sharif also imposed a fine of Rs 6000 each on the accused this week.
According to the prosecution, the accused - Yashpal, Mathi, Rishipal, Devi Singh, Pratap, Jagdish, Surinder, Randhir, Samey Singh, Dharam Singh, Meghraj and Mesar - had raped the 16-year-old girl at Kishenpur village in the district on September 7, 1993.
The police had filed a case against 15 men in the incident. Two of them have died, while one is still absconding.
